Wo-He-Lo and Welcome to our camp!
Camp Monakiwa is a co-ed camp established in 1959 that lies just 18 miles from Las Vegas, NM in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The camp itself is nestled in pine forests; Monakiwa even means facing the wind in the midst of the forest. This beautiful 100 acre rustic camp offers separate living quarters for boys and girls ages 5-18. Campers will stay in A-frame cabins, teepees, or covered wagons. During the day campers stay engaged in fun-filled activities such as archery, canoeing, and hiking.
Camp Monakiwa's philosophy is based on group camping and teamwork. Our primary purpose is to give boys and girls the chance to build social skills, achieve personal goals, practice self reliance, learn leadership skills, and have fun in the great outdoors.
